Eating with Elaine: Dr. Pepper Cake

Dr. Pepper Cake

1 box German Chocolate Cake Mix - Duncan Hines is the best
2/3 cup vegetable oil
1 box instant vanilla pudding
1 tsp vanilla
4 eggs
1 12oz Dr. Pepper

Combine firest 3 ingredients, beat until blended. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each. Add vanilla and Dr. Pepper last. Pour into greased and floured 9x13 pan. Bake at 325 for 40 minutes. Cool 10 minutes before removing from pan.

Icing.
1 8 oz pkg cream cheese
1/3 cup cocoa ( I like Ghirradelli..or however you spell it)
1 lb powdered sugar
1 stick butter
1 tsp vanilla

Beat until well blended and fluffy. Frost cake. Add a few candles if you are celebrating a birthday. Oh, this makes me want a piece now. The cake is light, but the icing is heavy..good combo.

So, I love this cake. I actually have a different cake recipe, it's all from scratch, and easy too, I'll share it with you if you'd like, but I think I'm gonna love your icing much better than the one my recipe gives me. Thank for sharing with us!!! :)

Why you should keep coming back to my recipe blog

I LOVE to bake and like to cook. My mother was ALWAYS baking yummy sweets or cooking us yummy dinners growing up and stirring the cookie dough and folding in egg whites to cake batter are some of my fondest memories-right up there with eating these treats. Now that I'm a stay at home mom I like to cook old favorites and try new recipes as well to keep my hubby who brings home the bacon happy. I bake to keep MY tummy happy and baking is like therapy for me. People seem to like my baking and cooking so I thought I'd share some of my favorites here. I must admit I enjoy the compliments too:) Please leave a comment if you have a special request or tried one of my recipes.

Also note that my pics are not fancy..just snapshots to give you an idea of what the final product should look like. Please don't let their quality keep you from trying a recipe. I promise I would not post it if I didn't think it was worth making. I'm all about the food, not as concerned about the picture presentation. If I had a fancy camera....this might be a different story, but for now just think about how tasty the recipe sounds.
